Cyberpunk
Cyberpunk is a science fiction genre, the name itself comes from merging cybernetics and punk. The genre itself is focused on high tech mixed with low life. It features futuristic technology mixed with a breakdown of society in some way. Various plots in Cyberpunk novels / films etc generally focus on conflict in the tech world. These may be between Hackers and Mega Corporations and / or AI (Artificial Intelligence).William Gibson is one of the foremost authors in this genre, with books suck as Neuromancer setting the trend for others to follow. Blade Runner was also a fore runner for the genre, and more recently The Matrix set the standard for Cyberpunk film. A lot of the Cyberpunk Clothing worn in these films is similar to the Goth genres, with black and dark colours taking preference.
Although sometimes written Cyber Punk, Cyberpunk is the correct way to write it.
