Zombie shoots from the hip

Feb-15-2008

Rob Zombie has never been one to keep quiet about things, so it was no surprise to read this interview on blabbermouth.net. He makes some very good points that I think most of us would agree with. Keep on rocking people!

“I think the record labels are dinosaurs waiting to die, and that they’re putting themselves out to pasture,” he said. “They all have a defeatist attitude. And that’s why in another couple of years, they won’t exist. The funny thing is, the record labels for years have done thing that’s bullshit, and that’s blame the artists. ‘It’s the artist’s fault.’ But it’s not the artist’s fault. People love music. People have always loved music, people will always love music — people want more music now than they’ve ever wanted in their lives. Whether it’s through Guitar Hero or their iPhone, or anything — people are music-crazy. But the music industry is always blaming the artists: ‘Oh, it’s not the right single. Oh, it’s not the right album. Oh, it’s not this, it’s not that.’ You know what? They’re full of shit. They’re just overpaid and lazy, and it’s all crumbled around them. But the art is not going anywhere. You go out there, and there’s more tours than ever, the shows are bigger than ever, the crowds are crazier than ever, the fans are younger than ever; there’s no lack of demand for the music or the bands or anything. It’s just that the record labels are these overstuffed, overpaid dinosaurs. They’re gonna die. The music’s not going anywhere.”"

Things get heavy for the goths

Feb-11-2008

Here is a little follow up on the recent story of Dani Graves and Tasha Maltby being refused service from a bus driver:

“CALLING all goths: don your eyeliner, grab your trenchcoats and get ready to hit the streets of Dewsbury and Mirfield.
That’s the plea from goths who told the Reporter that rude comments and threats of violence have driven the alternative sub-culture underground.

Two weeks ago, the Reporter exclusively revealed that Thornhill Goths Dani Graves and Tasha Maltby had submitted a complaint to Arriva alleging a Dewsbury bus driver refused them service.”

George Romero goes back to basics

Feb-11-2008

Here is a little more information on George A. Romero’s Diary of the Dead.

“Bitten by a zombie, his fate sealed, a character in George Romero’s new film mutters to a friend, “Shoot me.” The friend first points a video camera at the man, then a gun.

Romero’s latest zombie film uses the same handheld, subjective camera approach as “The Blair Witch Project” and “Cloverfield.” Calling into question the morals and motives of whoever is filming, it makes the case that YouTube and MySpace are as frightening as walking dead.”

Iron Maiden singer pilots some heavy metal

Feb-11-2008

Old Bruce is at it again, I’m not sure how he has time to be in a band to be honest…

“HEAVY metal giants Iron Maiden have a new beast and its number is 757.

Ed Force One, named after the skeletal mascot emblazoned on the tail, is a Boeing 757 chartered by the band to fly 12 tonnes of equipment and a 60-strong crew as they take their powerful brand of rock to more than 1.5 million fans around the world.

And captaining the plane as it took off from Perth for Melbourne yesterday was lead singer Bruce Dickinson.”

Heavy metal helmets

Feb-5-2008

Ok, a good one for all you bikers out there, want a Slayer lid? Looks like this could be your lucky day!

“Slayer, the kings of religious controversy, face-melting solos and driving thrash-metal riffage have teamed up with O’Neal USA – a leading motorbike accessory company – to produce a series of limited edition Slayer lids featuring some of the band’s most famous artwork.

Launched under the name ‘RockHard’, the helmets will be sold at Cycle Gear shops and motorcycle dealerships worldwide from 25 February. Each lid will be numbered, supplied with a certificate of authenticity and sold in a custom made box, modelled after the Anvil road cases used to transport band gear around the world.”

Biohazard’s Original Line-up To Reunite

Feb-5-2008

Best live band I’ve ever seen? Biohazard. They just do an utterly awesome live set, this should defiantly be one to catch if you can!

“The original lineup of the highly influential New York-based group Biohazard, whose intense fusion of the aggression of hardcore, punk and thrash metal with the socio-critical commentary and authenticity of hip-hop earned the band extensive international acclaim will reunite for a series of performances in the summer of 2008 to commemorate the band’s 20th anniversary. Bassist/vocalist Evan Seinfeld, guitarist/vocalist Billy Graziadei, drummer Danny Schuler and guitarist Bobby Hambel have not performed together publicly since 1995, when Hambel left the group at the end of the touring cycle for Biohazard’s third album and major-label debut, “State Of The World Address.” “

New Superbeasto Pics Emerge

Feb-5-2008

For those of you following the Superbeasto saga here is a little more information on it and some new pics.

“The sparse world of animation for adults is about to get a swift kick in the pants with the upcoming release of Rob Zombie’s The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, a direct-to-video feature being distributed by Starz Media’s Anchor Bay. Zombie has released seven new images from the eagerly awaited flick, which is nearing completion but doesn’t yet have a street date.”

The rise and fall of Metallica

Feb-5-2008

Metallica, a bunch of sellout tossers. This is a great article that puts it all in to better words than I can.

“Soon, well hopefully this year, Metallica will finally release their follow up to St. Anger. If it gets the newly scheduled fall release, it will have been five years since that album. Speculation abounds as to what these metal icons will deliver, and with very good reason, Metallica has in many ways “jumped the shark” in the minds of not only your core metalhead, but even many casual rock fans. The story of Metallica is one of rise, fall, and rebirth into an enigma; but that is really beyond the scope of this column. Suffice to say and keeping it short, Metallica is the story of a band who became the innovative center of the metal movement in the 80’s, the face of the hardcore metal scene, hit it big, was accused of selling out, went rock band with all the U2 trimmings, sued their fans, split and OD’d to rehab, then purged the violent Anger.”
